GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
• You will need bowel preparation for colonoscopy and for some elective colorectal / bowel procedures (as advised by specialist).
Purchase Picoprep (3 sachets) or Glycoprep (200g / 210g) over the pharmacy counter. 
• Medication: If you are on blood thinners, anti-inflammatory medications, diabetic medications/injection, steroid medications, fish oil. Please make sure you consult your surgeon + cardiologist / prescribing doctors at least 2-3 weeks prior in regard to advices of continuing / withholding / altering dosages pre and post planned procedure. Failure to do so may result in cancellation / postponement of planned procedure.
 Important note: If you do not take bowel preparation laxatives the day prior your planned procedure as advised, your procedure will be cancelled and postponed. 
• After a colonoscopy / Day procedure, you cannot drive home. Please arrange for family member or friend to accompany you home.
• Rare complications of colonoscopy include perforation and bleeding. If this occurs you may need emergency care.

Morning procedure instruction (before 1pm): THE DAY BEFORE YOUR COLONOSCOPY
You can have light morning breakfast day prior procedure. After this, DO NOT eat other solid food and you should start clear fluids diet from this point on until midnight / bedtime.  
3pm Mix the first sachet of Picoprep in a glass of water and drink.
5pm Mix the second sachet of Picoprep in a glass of water and drink.
• 7pm Mix the final sachet of Picoprep in a glass of water and drink.
• Please ensure that there is a minimum of 2 hours between the doses of Picoprep/Glycoprep. 

Afternoon procedure instruction (after 1pm): THE DAY BEFORE YOUR COLONOSCOPY
You can have light morning breakfast day prior procedure. After this, DO NOT eat other solid food and you should start clear fluids diet from this point on until midnight / bedtime.  
• 5pm Mix the first sachet of Picoprep in a glass of water and drink (or Start 1st litre of Glycoprep drink).
• 7pm Mix the second sachet of Picoprep in a glass of water and drink (or Start 2nd litre of Glycoprep drink).
• 7am (on your procedure date) Mix the final sachet of Picoprep in a glass of water and drink (or start last litre of Glycoprep drink).
• Please ensure that there is a minimum of 2 hours between the doses of Picoprep/Glycoprep. 
What are approved clear fluid diet?
• Plain jelly (lemon, orange or pineapple flavours is good, avoid red, blue and purple colour)
• Gatorade, powerade (lemon or lime flavoured - avoid red, blue, purple colour)
• Fruit juices, cordial (avoid red, blue, purple colour, pulp free)
• Clear chicken broth 
• Black tea or coffee (no milk)
• Water

On the day of your colonoscopy / bowel surgery: 
• DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ON THE DAY OF YOUR COLONOSCOPY
• 7am DO NOT TAKE FOOD OR DRINK WATER, SIP ONLY ALLOWED AFTER MIDNIGHT.
